"Siena (she/her, they/them)

As a strength and conditioning coach, I enjoy helping clients to achieve their goals. My coaching centres around the whole person (bio-psycho-social model), rather than focusing only on physical development.

My fitness journey started at school, where sports were my safe space. I played and tried everything active that I could.

However, in my late teens, I started to develop chronic tendonitis in both my legs. This progressively worsened to a point in my early 20’s when I had difficulty walking. I had to stop doing any weightbearing repetitive activity (I could only slow walk, for a short period of time. Absolutely no running).

Mentally I struggled with not being able to play sport. Especially as most of my friendships had revolved around sports.

At this time I was studying BSc in Psychology, where the only thing I had been enjoying was my friendship group in the university hockey team, and playing hockey. Due to my injury I had been forced to stop playing hockey.

I wanted to discover why I was injured and my peers were not, which led me to switch university courses to a BSc in Sports, Coaching and Physical Education. I began to understand my injury and finally learned how to overcome it. I felt invigorated which encouraged me to try new things. Including starting taekwondo, becoming captain of the university team and even parachuting with the University Officer Training Corps.

Inspired by my own success, I qualified as a personal trainer during my undergraduate degree. Followed by a certification in Functional Range Conditioning as I wanted to coach others to overcome their current limitations and reach their goals this I greatly enjoy.

This year I completed a postgraduate MSc in Strength and Conditioning in order to further centre my practice around the bio-psycho-social model of coaching, a holistic approach to person.

I have been privileged to work in various women’s only spaces, in both athletic and non-athletic environments. Recently, the women’s rugby union team was coaching (strength and conditioning coach) won their league and were promoted.

Strength training has been pivotal to my journey helping me to regain my confidence in life and create a strong robust body that can work to accomplish my goals.

I look forward to helping you achieve yours!.”
